It was ^*^triguing "speech" which the audience introduced to the ^timinal mind, to the ®ality of prisons reform, to the ^^fia and its influ- ^ce on the economic political struc- '^tes in the U.S. William Geraway be- a deviant Ameri can at the age of nine when he commit ted his first crime: robbery. By the age of 13, he was a well equipped thief and found himself at the beginning of an 18 year bout with prison life. He found pri son to be only a col lege where one could learn the "how to's" of any desired crime. He also believes that prison reform is a noble thought but he doesn't see it as a reality in the near future. He believes reform is only prob able if the prisoner is also interested in changing his life style and character, which Geraway seems to have accomplished. He believes that our main hope in the area of reform is with the nation's juvenile de linquents . Another subject a- rea in which Geraway is sufficiently com petent is in the knowledge of the Mafia. He has had dealings with the Mafia and the Irish gang on the east coast since the 60's. He later testified against the assassins of 5 contract murders associated with these organizations. As a result, he is now faced with a contract on his own life. Mr. Geraway offered a solution to the abun dant Mafia control by stating that the con nections with the po lice departments and political institu tions need to be severed. William Geraway concluded his lecture with a hearty supply of questions from the audience. Several of the questions were of a personal nature. Geraway tried very hard to supply suffi cient answers which helped to reveal his enlightening charac ter.
